WVUSC Elite U12 Girls: Region 1 Semi-Finalists

The WVUSC Elite U12 Girls advanced to the Region 1 Tournament semi-finals, the only team from WV to do so this year.

The WVUSC Elite U12 Girls were the only team from West Virginia to reach the semi-finals of the 2010 US Youth Soccer Region 1 Tournament, held in Barboursville, WV, July 1-6.  The Elite, coached by Suggie Seaman, began the tournament with a pair of wins, defeating New York East 2-1 and New Hampshire 2-0.  Despite a loss in their third group game to PA West, their body of work was good enough to advance.  The girls played the #1 ranked team in the country (and ultimate Regional Champ) in the semi-final and were defeated in a hard fought game 2-0, but they represented the state and WVUSC with class and enthusiasm.  The Elite's losses came at the hands of the two teams that reached the tournament championship match.  As far as we know, the Elite are only the 5th WV team in history to reach this stage of the competition.  It is an excellent accomplishment!  Congratulations to the U12 Girls!
